Meet Santa Claus, Toys-for-Tots, and Food Drive Event

On December 4th we had our first ever Toys For Tots and Food Drive event.  We gave free pictures with Santa Claus for everyone who brought an unwrapped toy for the Toys-for-Tots campaign and/or some canned food for Betty Lou’s Pantry in Coopersburg. The Lodge was decorated inside and out for Christmas, with music, refreshments and a generally festive atmosphere.  We even had some reindeer for the event. (Well, not really reindeer, but alpacas with fake reindeer antlers)

It was a coordinated effort with many of the Lodge brothers and their families contributing their time, decorations and cookies.  Special thanks to the Southern Lehigh Key Club for their generous donations of food and toys and the Cub Scouts for their help and for adding life to the party.

It was a fun way to make a difference in the lives of some less fortunate people.

All donations of toys, food, and cash are greatly appreciated!

Saucon Lodge 140th Anniversary Banquet

Our annual banquet was held on October 2nd at the Upper Saucon Fire Department Social Quarters at 4900 Lanark Road, Center Valley, PA.  We had our traditional Pork and Sauerkraut, baked chicken, salad, vegetables, and assorted desserts.

In attendance were Don Masters DDGM 9th District, Ralph Slider DDGM 10th District, nine Past Masters and many other brethren and their wives.

If you weren’t there, I have to say, you missed out on a fun evening!

We sold about 340 barbecued chicken dinners at the Coopersburg Community Day on September 18th.  It was a beautiful day in Living Memorial Park and a very successful event. Thanks to all of the members who helped make this event successful.  Special thanks to Chip Dewitt for his excellent sauce recipe and his masterful barbecuing technique!

For the third straight year, we had a Chicken Barbecue at the Coopersburg Community Day celebration on September 17th, 2011.  Cost was $8.00 per dinner and included ½ chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and a roll.

We had some rain during the Community day event, which slowed down our dinner sales, but we eventually sold most of them and it was a successful event.

Saucon Lodge in the February issue of Freemason magazine.

I would like to offer my congratulations to Rob Brink, P.M., Ray Lapp, P.M. and all of the officers and members that worked so hard to make this a great event. I hope we can make this an annual affair. I believe that any time we “reach out” to the community it benefits Freemasonry in general and our lodge in this area. Thanks for a great job.
